Ecma International has spent six decades advancing global Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Consumer Electronics (CE) standards through timely, industry‑driven collaboration. Driven by the commitment of its members, Ecma fosters a healthy and competitive landscape, built on product and service differentiation rather than technology models – strengthening confidence among vendors and users of emerging technologies.

A non-profit organisation
Ecma International is a Swiss based not-for-profit association officially established on 17 May 1961. It is headquartered in Geneva to be near the headquarters of other standards developing organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
