17 June 2026 marks a significant milestone for Ecma as we celebrate 65 years of advancing global technology standards
Since its founding in 1961, Ecma has brought together industry leaders, innovators, and technical experts to develop open, consensus-based standards that have shaped the industry. From consumer electronics, programming languages to software transparency, AI and emerging technologies, Ecma standards continue to enable interoperability, innovation, and global adoption.
Over the past 65 years, Ecma has published hundreds of standards and technical reports, many of which have become internationally recognized and widely implemented around the world. The organization’s collaborative, industry-driven approach remains as relevant today as it was in 1961.
