The OFE lounge aims at bringing together standardization and open source organisations to share their approach to the evolving role of open source in standardization. During the OFE Lounge series that took place virtually for six weeks on Thursdays in February and March 2021, Patrick Luthi, Ecma’s Secretary General, presented on the role of standards in Open Source. His presentation discussed Ecma’s cooperation with Open Source projects and highlighted:
- Structure and policies that are interoperable and in alignment with OS projects
- Friendly IPR policies that allow for a Royalty Free environment
- Some efficient infrastructure and flexible working methods with well established interfaces to standardization, and
- The possibility for implementation feedback from 3rd parties
