With sadness, we learned of the passing of Gino Lauri on Sunday, 11 May 2025. He now joins his beloved wife, Nadine, who preceded him in January.
On behalf of Ecma International, we wish to express our appreciation and gratitude for the life and work of Gino, who served as senior technical officer with dedication, insight, and distinction for over 30 years. Gino was a member of the Ecma staff, and throughout his long tenure, he made outstanding contributions that shaped the direction and success of many standardization efforts. His ideas, technical knowledge, and commitment to excellence left a lasting mark on Ecma and the broader community we serve.
Beyond his technical achievements, including long-standing editor of safety standards, Gino was respected for his collegial spirit and his willingness to support others. He brought both professionalism, humour, and warmth to every discussion, earning the admiration and affection of his colleagues and committee members alike.
We remember Gino not only as a key contributor, but as a person of kindness and integrity whose presence enriched the organization; he will be dearly missed.
