Standardization of the High-Level Shading Language (HLSL)

Scope:

Standardization of the High-Level Shading Language (HLSL) as a cross platform and vendor-neutral programming language for data-parallel programming. This includes language syntax, semantics, libraries, and complementary technologies that support the language. This work will be chartered under the Ecma Royalty-Free Patent Policy.

Programme of work:

  1. To develop the HLSL language standard and standard libraries for HLSL.
  2. Upon completion of item 1, to investigate the future direction of the HLSL language standard.
  3. To evaluate and consider proposals for future language and library features.
  4. To develop test suites to verify the correct implementation of standards produced by this task group.
  5. To establish and maintain liaison with appropriate other Ecma TCs and TGs, and with other standards bodies, industry consortiums, and developer communities including, but not limited to, ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 22, The Khronos Group, and The LLVM Project.
